Modules

phpWebSite ships with a number of modules. They range from site administration to content. Some were written for specific needs at Appalachian State University but included for the community.

The following is a listing of some modules and their function.

Access
Allows the administrator to create url shortcuts to sections of content. Also provides IP denial.

File Cabinet
A single repository for the site's images, documents, and media. Used by almost all modules.

Layout
Allows for on-the-fly theme changing, meta tag editing, header and footer editing and overall site appearence.

Notes
Lets users send messages to one another.

Block
Create small "blocks" of information on the sides of your site.

Blog
A weblog module for those with something to say. Ties in with the Comment module to allow community interaction.

Calendar
Create public or private schedules and events.

Checkin
Developed for the university, allows visitors to "check-in" at a terminal. Site staff can then log in and see who is waiting for them. Administrators can assign visitors to staff based on visitor's name or reason for visiting.

Menu
Quick and easy method for posting any content to a site menu.

PageSmith
Template based page creation. Ties in with File Cabinet to easily add images, documents, or media. Images automatically resized to fit page template.

Bulletin Board
New to 1.x., an online forum module.

Ride Board
Written for the university, allows students to coordinate rides home and helps staff arrange car pools.

Signup
Written for the university, lets visitors signup for events associated to your site. Includes email confirmation and report capabilities.
