BoostGuide

The following guide will instruct you how to use Boost

What is Boost?

Boost is the fast and easy way to install all the additional features and modules that you will need for your website.

How do you use Boost?

The first step towards using boost is to click on your control panel. From there select the Administration tab and then the Boost icon.

Once you have the boost page open, select the Other Modules Tab (the core modules will already be installed). Once you are on the Other Modules Tab you will see a list of Modules that you can install. (Note: when the website was set up for you and an ESS rep trained you, these will most likely all be installed.)

All you have to do to install a particular Module is click 'install'. When you click on install another window should open, like in the image below. Once that happens, all you have to do is select 'Close Window' and you can continue onto the next one. You can pick and choose which modules you want, there will be additional information about each module linked at the bottom of this page to see what each does. (Note: if it does not say Installation Complete in the window, there may have been a problem, try the install again and if that does not work, contact ESS.)

One thing to make note of, is the fact that some Modules are dependent on other modules to use. For example, the Page Smith requires that the Menu module is already installed.

All you have to do in this case is to first install the Module that is depended on before installing the dependent Module. Once you have done this, the Module that is required for another, will displayed 'Depended on' and not allow you to remove it, unless the dependent Module is removed first.

Now that you have installed all the Modules you need, you will be able to use them to modify your website. Below are links to what all of the modules do to add to and modify your phpWebSite!

Permissions

All modules have a set of permissions that can be set to allow a user/user group or users/user groups to have different access to each module. These options are available through the User Administration module and you can learn more about permissions in the Permissions Guide. The Boost module allows you to give users none or unrestricted permission. If users are given unrestricted permission, they will be able to have full access to the module the same as you do as the site administrator. If they are given no permission, they will not be able to modify the module.

To learn how to use all of the Modules you can add using Boost, check out the Content Guide and the Administration Guide. Each have links to different mods made available by Boost.
