CategoriesGuide
The following guide will explain the function of the Categories module and how to use it.
What is the Categories Module?
The Categories module allows you to set categories for their site and put pages and items such as blogs under these different categories. This will allow users to be able to quickly get to similar pages or blog entries, etc of your website. You can put items in categories and in subcategories. It is a very useful tool for organizing your website and making it possible to put similar pages together.
How do you use the Categories Module?
The first step to using the Categories module is to go to the Contents tab of your Control panel and then clicking on the Categories icon.

Once you are in the Categories module, you can create a new category for your phpWebSite in the New tab or you can view categories you have already created in the List tab.
To create a new category select the New tab. The first option is to decide if this will be a top level category or if it will belong under another previously created category. Right below that is a field to enter a title for the category. Then there is a field to enter a description of the category which can be helpful to you in keeping your categories organized. Finally you have the option to add an image to be the icon for your new category. When you are done, click Add category.

Next is the List tab of the Categories module. Here you can see all of your categories and subcategories and you are able to edit or delete each.

Permissions
All modules have a set of permissions that can be set to allow a user/user group or users/user groups to have different access to each module. These options are available through the User Administration module and you can learn more about permissions in the Permissions Guide. The Categories module allows you to give users none or unrestricted permission. If users are given unrestricted permission, they will be able to have full access to the module the same as you do as the site administrator. If they are given no permission, they will not be able to modify the module. You can also give permission to delete categories.
