CommentsGuide
The following guide will explain the function of the Comments module and how to use it.
What is the Comments Module?
The Comments Module allows visitors to leave comments about your website. The Module has several options depending on your preference regarding user comments.
How do I use the Comments Module?
To use the Comments Module start by going to the Administration tab of your Control Panel. Once you are in your Administration tab, select the Comments icon.

Now that you are at the Comments Module, you have quite a few preferences you can change.

- Default Order - This option allows you to select which order comments will appear, you can choose Newest to Oldest or Oldest to Newest.
- CAPTCHA use - CAPTCHA is a way to authenticate that the user posting a comment is in fact a human and not a program. (This is protection against the type of program that tends to spam sites with ads.) To find out more about CAPTCHA visit the Wikipedia CAPTCHA page.
- Allow user signatures - Allows users to have signatures at the bottom of their comments. Signatures are blocks of text that usually contain information about the poster that appear at the bottom of their posts. (Note: See Wikipedia's page on signatures for more information: Here)
- Allow images in signatures - This allows users to add images to their signatures.
- Allow user avatars - This allows users to have an avatar associated with their name. Avatars are images that appear with a users screen name when they make a post on your website. (Note: See Wikipedia's page on avatars for more information: Here)
- Save avatars locally - This option will allow users to have their avatars saved on your site.
- Allow anonymous naming - This option allows anonymous posters to enter a name for themselves when leaving comments.
- Recent Comments - This option allows you to decide how many of the latest comments will appear on your site. You can select None, 5, 10, or 15 most recent posts to show up.
When you have the settings how you want them, click Save.
Permissions
All modules have a set of permissions that can be set to allow a user/user group or users/user groups to have different access to each module. These options are available through the User Administration module and you can learn more about permissions in the Permissions Guide. The Comments module allows you to give users none or unrestricted permission. If users are given unrestricted permission, they will be able to have full access to the module the same as you do as the site administrator. If they are given no permission, they will not be able to modify the module. You can also give permission to edit comments, delete comments and/or change comment settings.
