PagesmithGuide
The following guide will explain the function of the Page Smith module and how to use it.
What is the purpose of Page Smith?
The Page Smith module is used to create and edit web pages for your website. With Page Smith you can quickly and easily, in just a few clicks, add new pages, modify or delete existing pages and assign a new template to the Home page of your Website.
How do you use Page Smith?
The first step towards using Page Smith is to select the Page Smith icon from the Content tab in your Control Panel. (Note: Your icons may be in a different order on your Control Panel, but they should have the same icons and names)

Now that you are in the Page Smith, the best place to start is the 'New' tab. When you are at the New tab, there are several template Styles you can choose from. You have many choices for the design of your new page. There are several basic page styles, each with one or more page templates under them. Select the best style for the page you want to make.

Once you have chosen your style, select the template you want from the selection to create your page. Each template will have a basic example of what your page can/will look like. Select the template that you like best.
Now that you have selected your new page's template, choose a title. This will be the name that appears on the very top of the page as well as on the Menu Bar. Editing the rest of the page will be explained below.

Depending on which template you chose, you will have different options for editing each. The templates all have common features such as Headers, Text Fields and Add Files, however depending which you choose, each template will have a different number of the features. Each of the common features will be discussed below in more detail.
Headers are the notepad icons a the top of the page/column, the text entered here will appear as a header/title at the top of the page or column. When you click them a small box will pop up with just one line for input. Enter the title/header you want in the text field and select update.

The Text Fields are the notepad icons below the headers. Here you will have more room to write as well as the full option set provided by the FCKEditor for formating (follow the link to learn more about it). This is where you will add the body of text and information to the page.

The final feature is ability to Add Files. This allows you to add an image, a multimedia file (music, video, etc) or a document for users to view. Adding a file to your page is extremely easy with this feature of phpWebSite. The Add File feature allows you to select any files sorted in your File Cabinet (visit the File Cabinet Guide to learn more about uploading and sorting files). To add a file to your page, click on Edit file .

Once you click on Edit file a new window should open that will give you the option to choose between adding a document, image or media file. Choose which you want and you will then be shown a different screen which allows you to choose which folder the image, document or media file you want is located in. You also have the option to select another file type with out having to go back.

Once you select the folder you want, a list of all the files in that folder will be brought up and you can select the file you want to add to your page.

Each different type of file will be displayed differently, below are examples of a document, image, music file and then video file respectively.

Now you have successfully made a new page and added content to it. However, Page Smith has several more options available to you. To access the next group of options, go to the Page Smith again and this time select the 'List' tab. When you select this tab, it will bring up a list of each web page you have created so far. And offer you several options for each page. You can go to a page, edit a page, delete an unwanted page by clicking Delete, and post the page to your Home page.

- To go directly to the page, click on the page's name.
- To edit a page select on the Edit link next to the page's name. This will bring up the same edit screen as when you created the page.
- To delete an unwanted page, select Delete. This will bring up a confirmation asking if you are sure you want to delete. Click Yes.
- To post a page to your Home page, click on 'Add to front'. The page selected will now show up as your Home page and be the first thing visitors see when they come to your website. If you change your mind about which page you want as your home page later, you can go back and select 'Remove from front' and/or select another page to go on the Home page.
The final tab on the Page Smith is Settings. The only setting is if you want your pages to be automatically added to the menu on the left of your screen. If you do not want your pages to appear on the menu, simply de-select the check box and click save. If you change your mind later you can always change back.

You now should have a good idea how to use all the features included in the Page Smith, good luck creating your pages and expanding your website!
Permissions
All modules have a set of permissions that can be set to allow a user/user group or users/user groups to have different access to each module. These options are available through the User Administration module and you can learn more about permissions in the Permissions Guide. The Page Smith module allows you to give users none, restricted or unrestricted permission. If users are given unrestricted permission, they will be able to have full access to the module the same as you do as the site administrator. If they are given no permission, they will not be able to modify the module. Restricted users will have some access to the page smith and options associated with it. You can also give permission to Edit pages, Delete pages, and/or Change settings.
